Valentine’s Day is one of the most important holidays of the year for couples all around the planet. A lot of folks say that this particular day was made up by the greeting card firms to sell more cards. But this particular holiday can be followed back to days of Chaucer. In those days, the concept of courting was becoming accepted and fashionable and Valentine’s Day became a day for lovers to celebrate. In fact most of the modern day Valentine’s Day customs can be traced back to Chaucer. This day does not have much to do with St Valentine and a lot to do with a poem written by Geoffrey Chaucer titled “Parlement of Foules.”
Nowadays it’s no secret that folks who are most likely to profit from Valentine’s Day are firms that sell romantic gifts and cards. But this shouldn’t take away from the emotion and feeling that Valentine’s Day generates. If nothing else, it’s a day on which lovers have an excuse to go out on a passionate date and spend the day with each other.
It is very important to plan your Valentine’s Day 2012 well in advance to make the most of this special day. If you’re in a committed relationship, then ensure you work out early what you intend to do on Valentine’s Day. This is because a large amount of restaurant reservations are made on that day and your reservations have to be made far ahead of time so as to avoid the rush. Get your gifts early too in order to sidestep paying higher prices the day before the big day.
If you are single, Valentine’s Day could be a real drag. This is why I advocate you get together with all your single pals and have a mad party. Invite anyone who is single to this party and make sure that people mingle. That way you too can enjoy on day of love with all of your single chums. This is the perfect way to meet new friends and this will improve your chances of finding your soul-mate. Single folks have no excuse for moping around anymore on Valentine’s Day. This holiday was invented for love and fun and everyone should have a great time.
So whether or not you are single or have been married for 50 years, ensure that you enjoy yourself totally this Valentine’s Day. Go out and have a good time as it is 2012 and who knows? This might actually be the only opportunity you ever have to find enjoyment in this grand holiday.
